Cultural Respect & Connection

Dedicated to the study and respectful sharing of West African dance, particularly the traditional Guinean ballet style, much time has been spent immersing in Guinea and other parts of West Africa — learning directly from local artists, teachers, and communities.

Their traditional dance form is shared with guidance and permission from Guinean master dancers, and it is done so with deep gratitude and humility. This dance is not just a style — it is a living, breathing culture — one that is approached with reverence, responsibility, and ongoing learning.

As part of this commitment, a portion of the proceeds from our Guinea Ballet Style dance class goes to an artist support fund for Guinean artists of Merveille De Guinee ballet company in Conakry.

During the wet season (May- October) when opportunities for performance, community celebrations, and income are limited due to the rains, this makes it a more challenging time for local artists to sustain their livelihoods.

This fund helps provide direct support to dancers, drummers, and cultural workers who are the carriers and creators of the tradition we practice and share.

By dancing together in community, we’re also helping to sustain the community that has given this art to the world.

Your participation makes a difference — thank you for being part of a living, reciprocal tradition.
